Sahar Farahani – Filmmaker & Writer | Born May 30, 1998

I was born in Tehran, and since my teenage years, I’ve loved art and storytelling. I studied graphic design in high school and joined the Iranian Youth Cinema Society. At 17, I began learning cinema seriously.
I studied directing in university, where I also became deeply interested in folklore and mythology from different cultures. 
My first professional film was The Reflection of Every Star. After that, I made Story Weaver in Turkey. I traveled for 26 days through different cities, stayed with local people, and found inspiration in their stories. 
Then I went to Africa and made two films. One in an orphanage using creative writing techniques, and another while living with the Maasai tribe—turning their stories and way of life into film. 
To me, filmmaking means bringing stories to life and giving voice to forgotten worlds.
